INNOSLAB - Technology of the future

EdgeWave's key product is a diode-pumped solid-state laser based on the innovative SLAB concept - the INNOSLAB laser. Through an optimum combination of crystal shape, cooling and resonator design, INNOSLAB lasers possess the unique cluster of special qualities not found in other types of laser:

  • Short pulse duration and high peak output power
  • High beam quality approaching the theoretical maximum or homogeneous top-hat distribution
  • High performance and scaleability
  • Compact design and outstanding reliability
  • High efficiency

The INNOSLAB concept

A flat laser crystal ("slab") is excited ("pumped") from one end by a simple arrangement of stacked diode lasers. The pumped volume has a linear cross-section and covers partially the cross section of the slab crystal. The crystal is cooled uniformly and efficiently via the large surfaces of the slab. The laser beam is extracted from the pumped volume with high efficiency and beam quality using a hybrid, stable-unstable resonator.

Pulseshape

Due to his high amplification and the short resonator INNOSLAB-Laser are distinguished by their very short pulse length, as illustrated in the right-hand side picture. pulseshape

Beam profile

By sophisticated design of the resonator a rotational-symmetric beam with maxim beam quality (Gaussian beam) or a line-shaped or quadratic beam with a top-hat intensity distribution is achieved:
